Mrs. Andrus

Heather Andrus

I am so excited to be back at Lincoln Academy this year! Last year was my first year at Lincoln and my first year teaching 6th grade science.  Teaching science has been such an amazing experience and I can’t think of anything else that I’d rather do. I come from a family of teachers. My grandfather was a teacher, my dad was a teacher and now my brother, my sister-in-law and I have all followed in their footsteps.  I have always wanted to be a teacher even from a young age. I had amazing teachers who inspired me to learn and taught me to always strive to do my best. My goal is to be that same kind of teacher.

I graduated from Utah Valley University in 2009 and afterwards had the privilege of teaching English in Taiwan for year. I then worked at a middle school for at risk youth before taking a fifth grade position in Roosevelt. These experiences helped me grow as a teacher and reaffirmed how important education is in today’s world. I truly want to be a teacher that creates a classroom environment that not only encourages learning but also inspires my students to challenge themselves and expand their minds.

I have a wonderful husband and 4 year old daughter who are my favorite people in the world. I love spending time with my little family. Some of our favorite things to do together include going to the zoo and museums, camping, and fishing! In my spare time I also enjoy reading, hiking, and watching old movies.
